Why Cheese is the Best Food

Cheese-loving is basically a cult. Everyone loves it and everyone takes their love to an obsessive level. I don’t know what it is that makes cheese so easy to be loved, but to a lot of people, it’s basically like crack.

I am guilty of being one of these people. Despite being lactose intolerant, I eat a crazy amount of cheese because I just love it. I will willingly put up with the stomach cramps and other… unsavory effects of eating it because I just love it so much. I have recently discovered lactase enzymes though, which I buy from Holland & Barrat, they do help a little with the effects but with the amount of cheese I eat, there’s only so much that a natural enzyme can do.

Here are just a few reasons why cheese is the very best food out there, for everyone, all the time. I’m sure everyone will agree with me, but if you think there are any more reasons, let me know and I’m sure I can add them to the list of why cheese is amazing!

There’s So Much Choice

There are an endless amount of varieties of cheese that are all screaming out to be eating. Artisan cheese has become a bit of a cult and most companies are all trying to outdo each other, this makes for lots of great options for people who want to try lots of different types of cheese.

Cheese can vary in flavour, texture and forms and you don’t know true joy until you’ve tried every single type of cheese out there and the options are literally endless. I’m still on a lifelong mission to try every different type of cheese imaginable.

It’s So Versatile

Cheese goes with every type of food and meal imaginable. Don’t fight me on this, it can be for breakfast in croque monsieur, for lunch as a cheese toasties or as dinner with cheesy pasta. LEt’s not forget as a snack, appetisers or even dessert as fondue.

Literally, any meal or food can have cheese on it or in it and I am all for this.

Cheese is Nutritious!

Honestly! It’s not just a comfort food, although overindulging of anything can be a bad thing and cheese is well-known to be pretty high in fat. But, it does have high doses of calcium, protein, and vitamins that contribute to a healthy body and healthy bones, teeth and muscles.

So get the extra parmesan, it’s good for you!

It Can Be Classy

Is there anything more classy than a cheeseboard? An after-dinner fancy that is presented beautifully and gives you little tasters of plenty of types of cheese.

Paired with some lovely red wine or some port and it’s the perfect classy way to celebrate cheese and its best pair – lots of wine.

So there you have it, just a few of the many reasons I love cheese, but trust me there are many more. Maybe I’ll do a part two when I reveal my favourite specific favourites and were to find them.
